That was quite a weekend. Helped two friends move. Watched my wife nearly get poisoned by an undercooked Hot Wing. Said goodbye to my friends kids, who I've watched grow up, because they are moving to Idaho. Had my middle kid tell me he loved me more than cheese. Got sick. Got a bit better.
I came to work today for a break.
What or who is your favorite product mascot? Why?
The Pixar Lamp. It just made me smile the first time I saw it and I still do.
If you could open any sort of restaurant, what would it be like?
Wow, a question I've actually spent time pondering before it was a QOTD.
Rustic Italian. Basically, I would employ a 75 year old Italian Grandma to come up with all the recipes. I would then hire a chef who could take orders from said Grandma.
Once the restaurant was making me money, I would go back to school to train as a chef with a view to being owner/chef at my restaurant. I can cook, but I can't run a kitchen.
Mmmm, Lasagna.
For me, that's easy. My kids. There is nothing that can happen to me during a day that cannot be rectified by thinking about my kids. Now, Michelle will wonder ... Er... What about me? Well, as with everything there are times when it's the kids that are driving me crazy, then is when Michelle keeps me sane.
*whimper* - Two days of the 14 allocated for migration of data and we have migrated, out of 92GB, a total of 0.00 GB. Yay for EMC, Yay for our Administrators ("Ooh, it hung so I quit for the night") and YAY for the "Oh, you can't have physical access to the server without a change request" mentality of our Server support provider.
BTW the Subject is Sake (rhymes with Snake) not Sake (Rhymes with Parkay)
Kudos to the Warriors for a gutsy 2-1 win last night, in a game replete with substitutions (and may I say, some of them were inspired) we took a team with the most annoying coach and after going 1-0 down, came back in storming style with a textbook headed goal and a penalty.
After the game, the opposition coach apparently called me a "1960's quiet coach" and said something about a "missionary" according to my penalty winning spy.
Of course, I am too nice to walk up and just start shouting at someone, even if that someone is Irish, so I said nothing. But really, I'm only vocal if I'm worried about being outcoached. Obviously last night, that wasn't EVEN a possibility. Oh, Snap.
Play any instrument or speak any language, which do you choose?
Question submitted by cruftbox.vox.com.
Speak any language. The ability to communicate your thoughts to any nationality, the ability to offer help to those who arrive in this country or others without the (apparently) pre-requisite knowledge of the English language? Yeah, that would mean more to me than being able to bash out Louie, Louie on a Sitar.
What was your favorite candy when you were a kid? How does that compare to now?
Heh. I had two main favorites. Neither of which is regularly available in the US. Rhubarb and Custard and Pear Drops. Both hard candies. Both fantastic. Mmm... I still buy them when I can get them.
I don't get to do it enough, but I love to sleep. When I got home yesterday afternoon to the Oven that is my house in hot weather, I went upstairs laid directly across the bed in the fan air current and promptly fell asleep for 4.5 hours. Which pretty much made me unable to sleep last night (which would explain why I didn't get to sleep until 3:00 this morning).
But my little cat nap yesterday made me remember how much I loved to sleep as a teenager, I'd go to bed @ 1am and sleep till 2 the next afternoon. I never felt over rested, and I could always go back to sleep @ 9:00 the following night if I wanted to.
So, getting older has seemingly provided me with two things 1. An inability to get hungover and 2. A need for sleep only to rest, not as a hobby.
I like the first one, but I want my hobby back. Of course, I have 3 reasons (aged 13, 7 and 22 months) why I can never sleep as a hobby again, but I still want it.
I saw Clerks II on Friday and may I say "Well Done Sir" to Mr. Kevin Smith. I haven't laughed that hard or that much at a movie in years. The movie itself has rocketed its way to the top of my favorite Kevin Smith movies (and yes, I even liked Jersey Girl so bite me) and will be one I go back and catch again before it's out of theatres. I recommend anyone who has ever liked a Kevin Smith movie or anyone who like gross humor with a little bit of intelligence and soul to go see this movie.
